It's been a great summer full of music and new friends. My new string quartet movement "Phosphene Dance" was premiered by the KABJ quartet (members of JACK with Bram Margoles, violin) and earlier (back in May) Jennifer Beattie, Adam Marks and I performed in the world premiere of "Four Jennifer L. Knox Songs," which was so much fun. It was also great to work with members of the Cortona Collective at the Cortona Sessions as they presented the Italian premiere of the Knox songs. Now a new semester is approaching and I'm excited to see what happens next!

Last week Katrina Leshan played an amazing premiere of my piece "Gtr, GRL" for solo guitar at her Master' Degree recital at Eastman. It was very exciting to hear the piece come to life at last! Coming up is the spring concert for Artists at Albatross Reach, where several of my "Four Jennifer L. Knox Songs" will be premiered. I hope to have some new recordings up soon including Gleb Kanasevich performing "Show" for solo clarinet with Alia Musica Pittsburgh from February.

The premiere of "Online Communion," my piece for string quartet and electronics, was a blast! Thanks again Third Angle (and best of luck with an awesome season!) And the Illinois Modern Ensemble did a great job with "Bird Convergence." Looking forward to the premiere of my new tenor sax solo for Nathan Mandel in early December.

Some exciting performances coming up soon: "Online Communion" for string quartet and electronics will be premiered by Third Angle October 16th -- the day after the Illinois Modern Ensemble performs "Bird Convergence," my piece for fifteen players (including harp, steel pans, and whirligigs). Lots of fun working with so many talented performers!

New Music On The Point 2014 was a blast! I'm so glad to have been able to hang out with the JACK guys again, and meet AME members Nick, Keve, and Riko. Tonight the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra will premiere my piece "Dominion," a quirky trio for soprano sax, trumpet and cello. It should be a great time, and thanks to the performers!

Cool things coming in threes: my song set "Four Jennifer L. Knox Songs" will be performed as a Special Selection at the 2014 Cortona Sessions! Now to compose the fourth song so that the collection title is accurate.

I've been selected as a finalist in Third Angle Ensemble's New Ideas in Music (NIIM) Competition. I will compose a piece for string quartet and electronics, to be premiered by Third Angle on their NIIM concert May 23rd! I'm honored to be chosen and now I better get to work composing.

I'm excited to announce that Twelve Ball Bearings, my piece for mixed sextet, will be performed as part of New Music Edmonton's Festival of New Music Now Hear This, March 20th - 23rd!
